Simon the Sorcerer 1 (CD/DOS/English) > Runs with Audio, no Subs SCUMM finds 4 versions installed with the 25th anniversary edition. I did a 'mass add' on my game files and it found some interesting results seems to work - I also thought of getting the French talkie version, and replacing the Subtitle files with the English version, but this again eluded me. So I thought let's find the sub files and add them to the DOS folder, I assumed they were here īut no mix of files etc. Now my first thought was to drop that batch file into Simon1 and change the file paths, but no luck, it just starts the Voice version, no subs \scummvm-win\scummvm.exe -config=configfile simon2-voiceandsub Now, I went one step further and rummaged in Simon 2 25th Anniversary too that has an extra launcher \scummvm-win\scummvm.exe -config=configfile simon1-voiceonly \scummvm-win\scummvm.exe -config=configfile simon1-subonly So I bought the Steam version and had a poke around, it seems to contain the DOS version, with the speech tracks added, not the other way around and it runs from a SCUMM engine (without the new UI) and has two launch options Now, this is true, the English and German CD versions have subs removed, but the 25th anniversary edition on Steam does have both (and a new UI) That is why subtitles are disabled under ScummVM." The subtitles were removed from the data files and the scripts altered to no longer display the subtitles in those cases. "Unfortunately most of the subtitles were removed in the English and German versions of Simon the Sorcerer 1 (with speech). I want to 'merge' STS Talkie with the English Subtitles, quoting Kirben ScummVM dev from the forum So you guys might want to look at that.Working on a fun project that's making me scratch my head. If I launch it from the shortcut, the game isn't there. Or ideally get added to the docs somewhere prominent if it isn't already.Įdit: NB - just checked and in fact the savegame ONLY appears when launching the game from inside ScummVM. I've used ScummVM a fair bit in the past, so thankfully I had an idea of how to fix it - hopefully this might help someone else out in the future. Now when I run the game, my save file is present in the list and valid. set the save game path (options->paths->save path) to be the install directory for Simon. Select 'Add Game' browse to your install directory (GoG.com/Simon the Sorcerer) and hit 'Choose' if it's not there - it wasn't in mine - add Simon to its list of games. start SCUMMVM up in isolation (in your install directory, scummvm/scummvm.exe) I have it installed at G:Program Files which I figured might be the problem.?Īnyway, I verified that the savegame ('simon1.001') was present in that folder (phew!). After saving and quitting Simon, when I restarted the game later on, my savegame list contained no save files. Can't find any reference to this problem around here, but apologies if it's covered somewhere else.
